The founders of Brands Beyond Borders share a common passion for and keen insight into the global design industry. Each has experience in multiple marketing-related disciplines and has studied, worked, and traveled extensively in international markets. Our Brands Beyond Borders Partners are passionate about building successful brands on a foundation of marketing knowledge and awareness of trends.

Brian Hawkins, Partner
Brian has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and International Relations from the University of San Diego, and a Masters in Business Administration, International Marketing and Advertising from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). In 1992, he founded and is currently a partner in a creative marketing and advertising agency, Catalyst. Brian has developed global projects for companies that include Kimberly-Clark in South Africa, Chrysler Jeep & Levis in Romania, Kellogg’s in Italy, and AT&T in France. For the past 9 years, he has been a Professor of marketing, advertising, and branding at the University of California, San Diego. Brian has lived, studied and worked in the United States, Italy and France. Aside from his native English, Brian is proficient in French and Italian, and is conversant in German, Spanish, and Norwegian.

Yvette Engering, Partner
Yvette has a Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of Amsterdam and a Marketing Certificate from the University of California, San Diego. Her experience in retailing stems from her family’s bedding and bath business, she began her career as a Sales Manager for Highline Temporary Employment Agency. Yvette also worked at the Netherlands Institute for Brain Research. While in the United States, Yvette worked in the community relations department at the San Diego Union-Tribune. She has lived and worked in the United States and Holland, has traveled extensively, and is fluent in English and Dutch, proficint in German and conversant in French.

Roy Heuwer, Partner
Roy has a Masters Degree in Corporate Communications from the Utrecht University in The Netherlands and a Marketing Certificate from the University of California, San Diego. In The Netherlands he served as Assistant Marketing Manager for Accenture and he was Project Manager for an online entertainment portal for WorldOnline/Tiscali.
Roy is also an entrepreneur. Roy worked as Project Manager at TBWA\Agency.com and currently works as a BDM at Apple Netherlands. He has lived, studied and worked in The Netherlands and the United States and like his teammates he has traveled extensively. Roy is fluent in Dutch and English, and conversant in French and German.

Anna-Maria Poullis, Partner
Anna Maria Poullis has a Bachelors Degree in Commercial Economics from HAN University in The Netherlands and a Marketing Certificate from the University of California, San Diego. She has traveled extensively, and has worked for companies that include; Bonduelle, a French multi-national green grocer, where she conducted strategic business unit and product line analysis, Anna-Maria also consulted with Bainbridge Inc., an American management consulting firm working with Fortune 500 clients. She also worked in marketing at Artoon, a Greek-owned animation company. Anna-Maria currently works as a Marketing Manager at Taco Mundo, a national Quick Service Restaurant chain. She has lived and worked in The Netherlands, as well as Greece and the United States. She speaks Dutch and English fluently, and is conversant in Greek, German and French.
